I'm not quite sure how to describe. Lets see! I'm a struggling architecture student. Well, that should say it all because the course itself sucks your soul away from you. Hopefully I pray that I get mine back when I finish and really start working.

Rewinding-Galaxy Prints.

It has been a while i have posted anything. Been too lazy to type or write anything as such. But now I’m determined to bring this blog to life. I have always been a fan of Galaxy prints ever since I saw Christopher Kane’s Collection. And I will never get fed up of this print. Soon I’ll show you my take on galaxy print.I have seen so many variation of Galaxy prints around-Dresses, skirts, shirts, shoes, nail paints etc. Here are some collection of Galaxy prints i have made over this time. Hope you like it.

I have been dying to own this shoe. At times, I though I’ll just buy a black wedge and paint them myself. But I feel it will never come out as good as this picture. Sadly it cost about $150 which is way out of my reach unless of course I sell one of my kidney. Just kidding!

I actually have this skirt. It is very pretty and the material is also so soft. Worth the money I spent on it.

I would love to try this on my nails someday. There are lots of tutorial on Youtube but the result are not as pretty as this one.

Art, Architecture and Fashion (Pt. 2)

At least everyone must have heard about Frank Gehry, if not let me summarize a little about him. He is a Canadian-American architect. He is famous for designing Guggenheim Museum, Bilbao, Spain; Walt Disney Concert Hall, Los Angeles, United States; Dancing house, Prague.

He has not limited himself only with the construction of buildings. He has designed a hat for Lady Gaga to wear to a benefit at LA’s Museum of Contemporary Art in 2009.

He has also designed jewelry Tiffany & Co. The collection can be found from the official website of Tiffany & Co and can be bought online. Here are some of the pendants he designed.(Image Courtesy:http://www.tiffany.com)

Fashion, art and architecture

The title of the post may seem very promising if Google led you here and if you are actually looking for some educational insights on that, I don’t feel it will help you but for those casual readers out there, these are some trivia.

If you are an art and architecture student, I’m pretty sure you are already familiar with the term “De stijl”. If you are unaware, then De stijl means “the style” in Dutch. It was an art movement which started in Netherlands during 1917-1931. This art movement has inspired fashion designers, singers, architects and of course the real artists, the painters. Piet Mondrian’s  Composition II in Red, Blue, and Yellow(1930) can be taken as the prime example for this movement’

The Dutch furniture designer and architect, Gerrit Reitvald designed a Red and Blue Chair inspired from the painting above.

The American garage Rock band The White Stripes’s 2000 Album was named “De stilj” and the album art was directly inspired by Piet Mondrian’s Painting Composition II in Red, Blue, and Yellow.

The Rietveld Schröder House was designed by the Furniture designer and architect Gerrit Rietveld. He incorporated the Piet Mondrian’s Painting into the building. This building has been declared as a monument since 1976 and UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2000.

De stijl have inspired a lot of designers like Balenciaga, Christian Laboutin and YSL. Piet Mondrian’s painting have served an inspiration for color-blocking. Here are some examples.

Christian Laboutin‘s Wedge Platform and YSL‘s dress

As stated by the online article on De stijl by the Guggenheim Museum,” De stijl was posited on the fundamental principle of the geometry of the straight line, the square, and the rectangle, combined with a strong asymmetricality; the predominant use of pure primary colors with black and white; and the relationship between positive and negative elements in an arrangement of non-objective forms and lines.”

Personally I think the De stijl art movement gave this world a whole new perspective of color-combination techniques which we now term as color-blocking in fashion. All these designers have taken inspiration from Piet Mondrian, so why not you? Inspiration is not plagiarism. So feel free to inspire!

Have a nice day folk!

(I have found the photos from around the web. I have mentioned the origin of the photo and its creator of the piece. I do not own any of the photo. This was purely used for educational purposes)

The new beginning

I have tried blogging since 2003 but didn’t quite get used to the notion of me actually doing that regularly. Lately I can see my grammar, composition and vocabulary being replaced by the modern terms, irrelevant phrases, so I decided to re-blog again to help myself. This does not mean that I disapprove of the current trend for usage of English words,in fact I will be using them here too.

Anywho! My First post- a new beginning. Renaissance. Rebirth. What else can i use??

Have a blessed day(if you are reading this)!!
